Hamza El Fasiki is an artisan, author, founder/Instructor at CRAFT DRAFT.
Hamza El Fasiki received his MA in Moroccan Cultural Studies with a research focus on Moroccan crafts from Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah University in Fes, Morocco.
A Fes native, he apprenticed under his father for 10 years while learning how to draw Moroccan geometric patterns, brass Engraving and bookbinding.
Hamza El Fasiki lived and traveled, while learning and teaching Moroccan culture, around 16 countries.
At CRAFT DRAFT, Hamza instructs and lectures, since 2013, on three Moroccan crafts: Geometric Patterns, Brass Engraving and Leather Bookbinding.
Hamza’s recent publication includes a book chapter: El Fasiki, Hamza. "Sacred Space: Geometric Patterns in Moroccan Art". In Perspective: Selected Essays on Space in Art and Design, Millet, Sarina (Ed). Vernon Press, 2023. Hamza’s current academic book chapter is on Western scientific orientalism and Moroccan geometric arts, being reviewed, as part of a volume titled: “Beyond the Occident: Perspectives on Past, Present and Speculative Future in Fiction, Art, Media, and Film” for a collaborative edited publication between the University of Europe for Applied Sciences and University of California.
